ANZAC in Hawera

“We will remember them,” boomed the man.
“TEAM, MARCH, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT”. I put my knees up high. I was bobbing up and down to the beat of the bagpipes.
“Any other schools, put your wreaths down.” Jahzel, the Hawera primary leader, put down the school wreath. There were hundreds of wreaths lying on the ground to remember those soldiers who died in the war.

12 minutes later

“Hawera Primary, school photo time”, said Miss Tosland, CLICK the camera went off.

I’m glad I marched with my old school in Hawera.
